VOD review or live coaching: which should you choose?

Choose a VOD review when you need to understand why a decision happened. Choose a live review when you need to observe how your decision process changes under time pressure.

A VOD creates space. A live game preserves pressure. Neither is universally better.

What a VOD review reveals

VOD review lets you pause at the moment a choice became available. You can reconstruct the map state, resources, wave, vision, cooldowns, likely positions, and win conditions without the next ten seconds demanding your attention.

Choose VOD when you are asking:

• Why do I keep losing the same kind of mid game?
• How should I read this wave or objective setup?
• Which option was actually available here?
• Is this an isolated mistake or a repeated habit?

A VOD is best for turning a confusing outcome into a visible chain of decisions.

What a live review reveals

A player may explain the correct concept perfectly after the game and still fail to notice it while playing. A live review shows what competes for attention, where hesitation appears, and how uncertainty or emotion changes the next action.

Choose live when you are asking:

• Why do I forget what I know once the game starts?
• Why am I late to decisions I can identify afterward?
• How does pressure change my map awareness?
• What happens to my play after a mistake?

A useful rule

If the problem is difficult to explain, start with VOD. If you understand the problem but cannot consistently change it in game, live observation may reveal the missing step.
